Viktor Vauthier

When I came across this guy I instantly fell in love. The rawness and beauty of Viktor Vauthier's work is something you don't see in modern day photography very often, but there are the few who refuse to be bound by the digital world and Photoshop, capturing life at its best. The young French photographer is based in East London, shooting with an old film compact 35mm camera, not re-touching or editing any of his photos. His stuff is pretty damn mad!

Mitchell McLennan

Young at only 17, New Zealand born and Perth raised photographer Mitchell McLennan is causing quite a stir in the small city's fashion scene. Taking the industry by storm, McLennan is in demand by agencies to test models and soon to be shooting campaigns for designers, editorials and I can assume much more. With plans to move to Sydney, this kid has an eye for capturing beauty in its finest, with lighting perfect and composition enviable. Seriously, watch this name cause it's going to be gracing many magazines in the future!

Patrick Wolf

This post isn't the normal eclectic-electronic-synth stuff I usually upload but my breath, quite literally, has been taken away by this artist.
Patrick Wolf, renowned for incorporating electronic bass beats with classical melodies, is possibly one of the most talented artists I have ever listened to. Now thats a big statement but the zip file I have attached to this will make you see how gifted this boy is. Not dissimilar to the sounds of Radiohead and Unkle, Wolf, formerly known as Patrick Denis Apps, is an English singer-songwriter from South London. Using a variety of instruments such as the piano, ukulele and viola he is able to make that beautiful sound which can be categorised between romantic folk to techno-pop.
Wind In The Wires was recorded in 2005, so a little while ago, but that doesn't age his music. Lie on your bed and close your eyes, listening to the whole album in one. Especially This Weather and Teignmouth, where you are bound to fall in love.

Camilla Akrans

I have been a big fan of Camilla Akran's work for a while now, but I couldn't hold off any longer showing it to you... You would have found the Swedish photographer's work in not only Vogue but other magazines world-wide, predominantly in the publication Numéro.
Undoubtedly in every shot the composition is perfect and the colours are just exquisite!
I think I'm in love.

Zimmerman Collection 10/11

When isn't Zimmerman HOT!?

Starsmith

Came across this guy whilst I was in Tokyo! All I can say is wow. These remixes are incredible... Starsmith, formerly down as Finlay Dow-Smith, comes from a strong musical background having received a classical performance degree from the University of Surrey on the sax! He opted to be more electronic and this has seen him not only remix but also produce amazing sounds with acclaimed pop-stars the world over. Remixing Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Passion Pit and Marina and the Diamonds just to name a few has created him into this masterful-uk-electronic-star. He also produced and co-wrote 5-tracks on Ellie Goulding's debut album Lights and we hear that he is currently collaborating with Cheryl Cole and Kylie Minogue. He's debuting his first two singles titled 'Give Me a Break' and 'Knuckleduster' on August 29th so keep an ear out for that as this guy's one to watch.

Inception

It's been a little while since my last entry due to being out of town but upon my travels I discovered quite a few little things... Found some new music, a Spanish band and a few cool new remixes. But firstly, I wanted to uncover what all the fuss was about in Christopher Nolan's new film Inception. I was beginning to question the hype surrounding it after having partaken in several conversations on the film and reading 5-star reviews but I came to the conclusion that I could only really judge for myself. I watched the film, and being a big Nolan fan was blown away. Not by the plot, I thought the plot was lacking and a little tricky but by the cinematography and special effects. I knew walking into the cinema that it would be a full on film after having watched The Prestige and his box-office smash The Dark Knight which were both filled with awe-amazing eye jerking grabs. Yet I was a little scared that Freudian and Lacanian theory, the interpretation of dreams, would and could possibly be lost in Hollywood glamour. Fortunately, I was wrong. I walked out with several endings, several different interpretations of the film which were unlike other people's I had spoken to... The love of film!
