Ou Est Le Swimming Pool

Having met and formed in Camden, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool are a mad new band that have come out of North London's music mecca. Yet, their music is inspired from the darker side.
"Being surrounded by all these crack heads and gunshots does inspire you to get in the studio and write, so I suppose Camden does influence our music!" Caan Capan said.
Their sounds are primarily synth pop, with a layer of heavier beats. Great music to get you excited!

Yves Tanguy

Yves Tanguy is one of the more incredible surrealist painters of his period. Born in 1900 in Paris, his work is immediately recognisable as a style of non-representational surrealism. His pieces comprise of vast, abstract landscapes, using a tightly limited palette of colours, occasionally showing contrasting colour accents. Detailing these landscapes are abstract objects to show dimension within his work.
I love his paintings, especially drawing attention to the compatible colour schemes!

Invictus

The power of film is and can be forevermore empowering on the way we live our lives. As I was sitting on a flight, perpetually inundated with copious amounts of work the film Invictus came on. I usually ignore films on domestic flights because they are generally very tedious and cater for a younger crowd but this film caught me off guard. Having been drawn in by Morgan Freeman, to which I have an insatiable soft spot for, I found this film very deep and inspiring. Directed and produced by Clint Eastwood, this film explores racial injustice, and its struggle for equality through the election of Nelson Mandela. It shows Mandela’s wish of bringing black and white people together through the South African national sport, rugby. It is emotionally draining, and the cinematography brought a tear to my eye but it is historically fascinating.

Ksubi RAFW 2010

Australian fashion week came to an end a couple of days ago and to send it out Ksubi showed their 10th collection! It definitely wasn't as crazy as previous shows, having once sent rats down the runway, but nonetheless it was still rad. Models had to walk down a circular catwalk, with double denim a prominent feature throughout, mixing it with acid wash jeans and matching coloured shirts tucked in. I like their clothes, but I don't think this collection really stood out for me, however the simplicity makes the line more sophisticated and chic...

Faux Pas

Faux Pas is psychedelic, dreamy, future pop that begs you to dive headfirst, deeper into the unknown. It's sounds are precariously blissful so having listened to the music you may just find yourself lost... It is Tim Shiels self proclaimed artistry and is beautifully mastered, having come all the way from Melbourne. His recent album, Noiseworks is a manic journey of sounds with delicately rendered instrumentation. It's incredibly beautiful...

FAUX PAS - CHASING WATERFALLS

Holy Ghost! - Say My Name

Disco savants, Brooklyn's Holy Ghost! have only ever released two songs of their own, 2007's "Hold On" which is remarkably pervasive in clubs world-wide and last year's "I Will Come Back". This year, on May 18, they will release their new 5-track EP Static On The Wire through DFA Records. On this will be a reprise of "I Will Come Back" as well as three other tracks, including "Say My Name" a gracefully-chic six-and-a-half-minute single.

Romance Was Born RAFW 2010

An absolutely mind blowing collection by
Romance Was Born
at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week!!! The creations are to die for... Seriously, check out the boots in the above picture they are damn cool. They've definitely gone to another level, mixing animal-like forms with reptilian behaviour to create a very ostentatious and exuberant show! Everything's amazing and the colours are crazy... ahhhhhhhh!

Salvador Dalí

Salvador Dalí is and forever will be my favourite artist...
I think it's because of his eccentricity as a person himself, shown through his surrealist work, whether captured through drawing, film, sculpture, or photography. He was born in Figueres, Spain on May 11, 1904 and is best known for his bizarre images and his twisted perception's of reality.
I don't know what stands out to me more... His integration of the natural space with distorted objects or he himself, an absolute nut case!
Either way his works totally mad and should be seen by all.

The Persistence of Memory

Painted in 1931, this piece is one of Dalí's most famous works taking on a surrealistic image of soft, melting pocket watches. My interpretation, although yours may be different, is that the watches are a rejection of the assumption that time is rigid and deterministic. The ants, seemingly attacking the orange clock perhaps indicate our anxiety with time. The painting is nothing more than a collection of ideas to do with the interpretation of dreams, perception of reality, time, birth, death and sexual desire.
I just think it looks pretty rad! Would look pretty damn cool hanging on the wall at home.

"There is only one difference between a madman and me. The madman thinks he is sane. I know I am mad."

Keepin' it clean

Kicking it off fresh with some beats that i've been getting into lately. This is just a mix mash up of some tunes that have been keeping me going... Not all new, but still good. Also, some remixes by Monsieur Adi, an up and coming French Artist who uses analogue drum machines, disco infused percussion beats, soft synth pads and in on one of his remixed tracks, the blissful voice of Ellie Goulding over the top to create some melancholy sounds.

My Sweet Beginning

This could be the beginning of something great or it could well be the start to my tragic demise...
But welcome to my blog.
A page infused with fashion and music!
I don't know where this could lead to but it's going to be a collection of the latest music, fashion and art trends that are inspiring us right now.
You'll find that the sounds will primarily be synth pop, disco and electro however along the way there will be a few softer beats.
There's not much more for me to say...

Live it, Love it

Peace
